TikTok crops and scales every image you upload, so resizing to the exact pixel dimensions before you post is the difference between a crisp profile circle and a blurry, cut-off one. Use FileZap's in-browser Resize Image tool (https://pikdee.com/resize-image) to set precise width and height values in seconds — it runs entirely in your browser, so your images are never uploaded to a server and stay private.
Upload a square image at 720×720 px or larger. TikTok displays the profile photo as a 200×200 px circle (in the web layout) and as a circle in-app, cropping your square from the center outward. Anything smaller than 200×200 will be visibly blurry after the in-app upscale, and any content outside the centered circle — logos at the corners, text near the edges — will be cut off.
1080×1920 px, which is 9:16 — the same aspect ratio as a TikTok video upload. This is what TikTok's cover editor recommends, and it fills the profile grid tiles cleanly. TikTok also offers a 1:1 (square) cover crop in the cover picker, so exporting a 1080×1080 version in advance gives you that option without re-cropping after upload.
Two common causes: the source image is smaller than the display size and gets upscaled (a 100×100 photo looks soft at 200×200), or the image isn't square, so TikTok center-crops it to the circle and cuts off whatever falls outside the centered region. Fix both by uploading at least 720×720, with the subject centered and the important detail well inside the middle of the frame.
